About AAP
Australian Associated Press was founded in 1935 as a co-operative news-gathering organisation for the mutual benefit of its 14 newspaper members.
Today, AAP is a dynamic news enterprise moving more than two billion words a year to print, radio, television and online media. In all, it sends 4500 stories, pictures, video and data files to its customers every day.
The principles upon which AAP was founded more than 70 years ago - impartiality, independence, accuracy, reliability and speed - remain at its heart today.
It still brings the world to Australians but now also takes the story of Australia to the world.
AAP’s mission statement is: To provide the Australian media and private and public sectors with a cost-effective, unbiased, reliable, comprehensive news and information resource.
AAP employs more than 600 people and provides a comprehensive Australian and International news service to the Australian media, business sector and beyond. AAP news is produced in real time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Newscentre is a division of AAP that provides relevant media coverage from a range of sources across print, radio, television and the internet. Only Newscentre can offer clients direct, real-time access to the AAP Newswire.
